- What is Calvados?
- It's a French protected designation of origin apple brandy. If unavailable, substitute high-quality apple brandy, though taste will be rawer.
- Drink is too strong.
- Use more ice and cider, halve the Calvados. It's a cocktail, ratios are adjustable to taste.
Calvados & Apple Cider Cocktail
Normandy in a glass. The French know you can never have enough apple: here we marry cider with noble apple brandy (Calvados). The result is a sophisticated, adult drink where Calvados' oak aging adds depth and cider adds sparkling lightness. An elegant choice for an aperitif.
